Thermoquad replacement

Hi everyone, new here.

I've got a '78 Dodge Tradesman 200 with a 360cid and a Thermoquad. I've rebuilt the thing and can't seem to get it to run right/consistently. I'm leaning towards a replacement. I know Edelbrock USED to offer a direct replacement, that was a solid driver. Unfortunately, they don't make it anymore. I believe it was a 1912/1913. I would also consider a Holley aftermarket carburetor, It's a former undercover police van and rescued from the wreckers. I got it running and and am just looking to get it road ready, to sell without spending a ton of money on it. I don't want a ton of mods or pricey carb. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
-Matt

Matt -

I actually had really good luck with the TQ on a small block, but every situation is different.
You can use any 4V carb you like, just remember that the TQ is a spread bore and most Holleys are square, so unless you want to change the intake manifold as well, use an adapter and you should be find.

Just don't go to big on the CFM. Most TQs were around 800 CFM and that will be too big on a Holley. If the engine is mostly stock, think around 600.

Have a look at a Holley Street Demon, I had good success with it on my 318 Truck. Get the add on Chrysler kick down stud.

Sorry to hijack the thread, hoping someone can help out with recommendation for replacing the carb on my father in law's 74 challenger.
Car only gets driven a few days out of the year (if that) and runs super rough, mechanic buddy said the carb is toasted.
It had a 318 motor from factory but was engine swapped by PO in the 90s to a 383 B motor with hooker headers.
Carb on it right now is a Carter TQ 9243S looking like its from a '80 318 when I run the number, intake manifold is from a 400 casting 3830949-F with build date 6.7.77.
Been trying to find a rebuilt 9243S tq but can't seem to find anything online, what else would work? Or better yet what would work better?
Any help is very very appreciated.

You can use a Carter of a Holley......
With the holley you will need room for a spacer place because of the spread bore....

750cfm with electric choke... It will also require the same style spread bore adapter to make it work...>>>> https://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/1411/10002/-1

Are you looking for something more of a direct replacement? If so Look at the Rochester from Jegs Looks somewhat similar to this >>>> https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/15801/10002/-1

Thanks Bob I was hoping for a direct bolt on one, but if one performs better with the motor using an adpater I'm into that too
