Why is so hard to find an engine core?

Hi.

Sorry by this offtopic but I have a big question: Why is so hard to find some LA engine cores? I've been looking on ebay, google and craigslist for a 383, 400 or 440 LA engine core but there's only a bit of offers. Where did go all those cores?

I tried several months ago to sell an all stock/orig, forged crank, complete (carb-pan and AC comp-exhaust manifolds, air cleaner, idler pulley, alt, ps pump, fan etc. all together), running, low mileage (around 40k miles), 383/727 trans (mated pair from 66 mopar, pulled from the same running/driving car) for $400 obo (even said I'd take $300) and I didn't have a single taker, no interest at all, not even a single offer. So I decided to keep it, I didn't want to "give it away" I paid $300 for them and just gave up, still have em lol.

About a year ago, I picked up a complete (carb-pan, AC-manifolds, air cleaner, alt, fan, ps pump etc.) low mileage (around 50k miles) good running 73 (Iirc) 400 (from a running/driving truck) for $400.

I literally, just picked up a complete (I mean totally complete; guages, shifter, wiring harness, carb-pan, AC-exhaust, alt, ps pump, fan, even has all the elec ignition components!, etc etc) 440/727 from a good running (around 70k miles +/-) motor home for $100!!! Being a motor home 440 it potentially has the HP rods (6 pack) and HD trans.

They're out there, it's partially a matter of right time/right place etc. just be patient and keep looking, they crop up pretty often.

Because I can't, remember that I don't live in the US

I was looking for this to get an approximate of what could be the price to bought one of this engines and ship it to my country. I was pretty interested in the 400 but I don't find anything only crate engines.

The 400's are a bit tougher to find,
they made a LOT more 383's and 440's than 400's,
but they're out there, just be patient and keep your eyes peeled.

Maybe you're asking "wrong." What you say you are looking for is not an "LA" engine. Smallblocks are "LA" engines, AKA 273, late 318, and 340/ 360

I noticed that also,
But I just assumed he meant B (383, 400) and RB (440 (wedge)),
But you know what they say about assuming lol.

What about eBag? (eBay)
You'd have to find a seller that would ship to ya...

Do you just want a block and that's all? No rotating assembly, no heads, correct?
Heck, I'll sell ya a dang nice 383 block...
