2004 Dodge Neon R/T transmission problems.
I have a 2004 dodge neon r/t 5spd does anyone know the difference in the transmission codes 4668980,5273250AB, and 5273250AC besides the price.
I'm asking because mine transmission has stopped letting me shift into 4th,5th and reverse gear.
If anyone could help me out with this that'd be great

Maybe some bad syncros.
I know that 5273250AC is the superseded part number (latest and greatest) of the orginal part number 5273250AB.
I read somewhere though that the shifter arm of the SXT version (5273250AC) is shorter than that of the R/T trans which would be the 4668980 or some version of that. I believe that there is a gear ratio difference between the two trannies as well. If you do a lot more highway driving, the STX version is more gas friendly than the R/T version.

I did the vin number with the dealership over the phone yesterday afternoon and that's what narrowed it to those 3 numbers because they all fall under the t350 category. Also it has right around 130,000 miles

You can't get the tranny into 4th, 5th or R? Even with playing and forcing it? I'm leaning towards the syncros needing to be replaced.
If you want to replace the whole tranny, I would go with the first number as that seems to be the tranny used for the R/T models.

I would take a real good look at the shifter and cables before diving right into a trans. Were the replaced parts from Mopar or aftermarket? were all the cables the same length as the originals? are they properly locked into the trans levers? I know these seem like dumb questions, but look at the obvious first. You say you just replaced them and the problem was not there before, what was the reason for replacement?
