I am wondering if this 'cracks' is normal for a 904 transmission?

I'm Not sure..... Did the Valve body come out of a working trans? If you didn't find any pieces of metal in the pan or filter. I would say it might not matter.... But if you need a new Valve Body.... Cope Racing Trans just might have what you need..

 

They generally do have casting flash

I found the real problem yesterday..

 

Just make sure you got the T.V. (Throttle Valve) linkage adjust correctly....
