Swapping out my Early A727 for a newer 727
Is there any way i can swap out my POS early style 727 you cant buy squat for transmission for a newer transmission and keep all my push button components in my 64 imperial??
This transmission shifts early you cant buy the shift kit things for it, you cant buy converters for it or even have them made with my stock one i'm pulling out basically these transmissions are worthless if you plan on doing anything with more performance than stock.
i looked into changing the spline to 24 from my 19 but seems it costs a ton of money and the parts are hard to find for that too. probably be cheaper to buy a whole new transmission.
so yeah... im stuck & very frustrated and discouraged about this whole build already and im about $1500 in i have $5,500 left in my bank for the budget.
still need to build the engine / rebuild heads & get all new exhaust.

Not sure but I think a 64 has a ball and trunoin instead of a slip yoke and ujoint. So you will need a drive shaft also.
And you might have to use the sift lever shaft from your 64s trans.

The earlier engines have a smaller converter register. I have no idea how you deal with the push button shifter. "It used to be" that a 65 trans was "magic." This was the one year, as I remember, which had a slip yoke drive shaft but retained the push button shifter.
I'm no expert on autos. I've heard of guys getting custom converters built to accomodate the smaller, early crank register.

no the last year for the push buttons was 64. and the last year for the ball & trunnion drive shaft. but some body does a make drive shaft to bolt to the 64 trans with a reg U-joint on a slide shaft. and 65 was spical as it was the last year for the rear oil pump. meaning you could push start it. and 65 did have the cable shifter.
