TF727 slips from 2nd to 3rd

Well, the title says much of it.
When accelerating moderately, and cold transmission, the shift from 2 to 3 goes normally.
When accelerating fast, at full throttle, the shift from 2 to 3 goes like this:
As the car reaches the moment at its shifting, the rpm goes way up, as it slips somewhere. Then the 3rd gear kicks in. I have a better result when letting off the throttle as gear change appears, and accelerating again when 2 to 3 change has occured.
Aside from the mentioned problem, the transmission is behaving normal.
No noises, and the fluid is fine and smells normally, not burned.

Any ideas to where the malfunction is - and what will likely have to be replaced or adjusted? Can it be a piston or a band somewhere?

Carb not stock. Linkage not stock either. How should the kickdown linkage be when half and full throttle?

Band adjustment. When i dont have a small torque wrench, is there a good tip do adjust the band without?

Thanks

Without the correct linkage I would suggest you go to a Lockar cable setup
BOTH Holley and Edelbrock make a lever that bolts to the carb linkage for the proper kickdown setup

Hello again.
I will have to correct myself.
The carb is a Holley 750 vac. sec. so not stock, but the linkage is stock, as i have been told, just slightly updated so it would fit the Holley. Still the rod type though.
I think i will make some experiments by adjusting a little fwd / rev. until it acts as it should.

I am still curious about a method to adjust the band without a small torque wrench, so if anyone has done so, a quick "how-to" will be highly appreciated.

Thank you for the replies and tips so far.

the band adjuster uses a torque wrench only take all the slack out of the adjusting screw. you might get by with getting adjusting screw a little more than touching. how the 2 nd band adjusted will effect going in to 3 rd. after you set it and it isnt right just turn the adjuster 1/4 turn at a time and have a chart with each change. so if you set it at 2 1/2 turns, just keep track of each change. my 1967 chrysler manual seems to not have the setting. but it should. ill have to keep looking. if i had to guess i will say 2 - 2 1/2 turns out. of course put lock nut real tight.

Lightly tighten the band and back it off 2 1/2 turns will get you close one is inside the panso you'llhave to drop that to adjust that one, kick down is adjusted by verifying the arm for the kick down is completely to the rear. There's either an adjustment on the rod up by the carb or there's adjustment at the transmission.
