trans question

trans question

so i have a mid 68 trans in my 69. i want to use my wiring harness set for a 3 prong style switch. can u take the 69-70 rooster comb that will make the switch work and put it in the 68 trans??? or do i have to replace the entire valve body???

uhm I think your refering to the mid 65 transmission with the single point neutral switch.

If is NO you dont have to change the valvebody just the switch arm on it. It's tricky as there is a ball bearing on a spring that likes to go flying across the shop. There is a small metal clip of sorts that has three screws on it, a c clip also refered to as an E clip on the shaft for the kickdown. And it comes apart, you change it without touching the valves themselves. It's best to take apart and clean the entire valve body out at this point as well which is a lenghty process. I personnaly dont need a manual anymore to do this but I would suggest you get one that shows where each and every ball bearing goes.

The reason you dont change valve body is because it may not work. Chances are it would but best to not risk it.

no its a 68 440 hi per trans may 68 #2801541 have heard u will and u wont have to change valve bodies ??

Put the switch in and try it... before tearing everything apart
