Wanting to put a small block overdrive transmission with a 440

Ok, I've never posted so here we go. We are wanting to see if anyone has done or has heard of adapting a small block transmission to a 440 with 4 wheel drive. We are running in a pulling truck so by no means is it factory. Any thoughts or ideas?

Are you swapping a 440 into a truck with the OD already?

Yes, the truck does have overdrive.

Sounds like you need a 727 and whatever transfer case that works with it, and like was stated before a Gear Vendors overdrive.

really trying to keep the same gear ratio. I know they make an adapter plate that will connect the 440 to a newer model small block overdrive transmission. Has anyone else? If so, have you had or heard whether works well, not so well or any thing else?
