What makes the D32 "Heavy Duty"?
What makes the D32 "Heavy Duty"?
Greetings Crew Members.
So cut to the chase: My 1969 Chrysler Newport Custom was ordered? with the D32 option. This is listed as a "Heavy Duty Automatic Transmission". My car has the transmission cooler/radiator.
According to Mopar option codes, they list the D34 as: 69-71 light duty automatic transmission, and the D36 as: 70-71 A727 3-speed automatic transmission.
I saw a window sticker for a 1969 Chrysler 300 with an E85 code 440 4bbl. with the D34 transmission.
So what made the D32 Heavy Duty?
Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Regards, Captain Chrysler

It should also have a cooler on the power steering pump and possibly an engine oil cooler. Oil cooler went from rear oil pressure feed & fed return thru the fuel pump bolt.
It may have the hemi spec trans with more clutches
