A body 74. Thinking of putting the big 11.75 rotors in place of the 10.75 . I think all I need is the caliper bracket off a 78 Cordoba .
I think you use same calipers , bearings, pads ,hoses and seals.
Anyone done this? Trying to get everything straight before committing. Thanks

 

Wrecking yard might have what you need..... Pull it off any A body....
Dart, Scamp, Duster, Etc... All the same... Should fit no problem...

 

You need everything that bolts to the spindle assembly including the dust sheilds take the two bolts that hold it to the spindle assembly also ...

 

You need 15" wheels also

 

I already have the 74 spindles and the slider calipers that were used with the 10.75 rotors.
Can I use these ? If so all I need is the caliper adapters, correct? I am running 15 inch Welds ,stars. Ok,will the 74 calipers and pads work on the 11.75s Only changing the brackets and rotors?

i donoo. some of the later cars had larger pistons.

 

The caliper has to be held off the center of the spindle at the 11.75 inch position all the other parts are interchangable take the dust sheilds they may be the only diffence

 

I would have guessed the calipers and pads would have been bigger . The dust shields do have to have the larger bolts . This is for drag only car so not sure the shields are needed. I ordered a set of 11.75 adapters from Dr Diff for 90.00 they don't come with the shield bolts.
It was much easier and maybe less $ in the long run. Plus I know they will be in good shape. So we'll see how this goes.

 

Ive assisted in a swap where my buddi just poped the ball joints and took the spindals and all
we installed them hooked up the brake lines blead em and we where down the road.. He didnt even swap the pads.. I love the interchange- ability of the moparts.
i should mention he had new balljoints installed and waiting when I showed up that morning
and he did get the alinment done which was very close to start with..

 

Was that a swap to the 11.75 rotors ?
I have been thinking about the ball joints , I have the original 74s there is plenty on the web offering neat kits. Performanceonline.com. offer a kit with upper tube control ams ,upper and lower ball joints.

if I.remember correctly it was off a 80s cordoba too a 80s dipplomat
firm feel.com specalizes in mopar susspensions I higly recomend you check out their site
i have installed some poly uerathane parts on my 5th ave along with very large swaybars really improved the handling
they have EVERYTHING you need from a bushing too complete racing susspension kits.
Ball joints are easy to swap on your mopar you need the special socket ..which should be available at your local parts store..
i prefer moog parts .

 

Not sure when or if front end has had updates in the past but suspect some maybe anyways.
I will check out firm feel . Most everything looks good but rubber boots have began to really go as with the upper ball joint rubber. We changed the only bad rubber underneath , a tie rod. Rest looks good but bushings is another matter that needs a better look I'm sure.
No matter what I do to freshen up everything I won't be able to see it's full potential until something is done with the stearing box ,way to much play. It doesn't seem to be a problem going down track ,straight. But when sitting or slowly moving the car it shows up.... You have about a quarter turn ,lol in each direction before anything moves . Thinking of trying to tighten it up some by adjusting .

 

I use to have a manual that had the steps in it to adjust the steering unit ,
maybe.someone will chime in on this ..maybe need to start a thread on power steering adjustment.
If your stearing box is too far gone frim feel has em also ...kind of pricy but..

 

There are several threads above the nut on the box , I don't know if that means anything.
Maybe it's never been adjusted.

 

Thats the adjuster all right you have to be carefull if its not adjusted correctly it can cause a serius failure !

 

Thanks for the heads up on the box. The play is in the box.
It turns either direction about a quarter before it starts having any effect . Weird though you really don't notice going straight. It may even be helpful to keep from overcorrecting. ..on the track.
More info on the brake swap, I ordered a set of Power Stop rotors drilled & slotted 11.75s from car I'd. and I forgot to ask if the races were already installed. Don't know about these but standard rotors from local auto parts have them already installed. At least the ones I looked at were.

Just received the new rotors for the 11.75 upgrade. They do include the races installed.
If they stop as good as they look ,We'll be in business !
