Cut the coils?

Found out Uncle Sam needs a large financial boost from my wallet. Those lowering springs for my foul weather car (Dodge Journey) are going to have to wait. Has anyone here had experience cutting coils with a whizzer wheel? I'm only looking to drop it an inch or so.

some coil springs have a specl wind sizing on each end. and some are just cut off, with a adapter to allow for the end not bening flat. but NEVER NEVER NEVER put heat on ANY spring in any way.

I hadn't thought of that! So someone makes permanent coil clamps I can drive on? Where can I check them out?

That I could not tell you.... I was just throwing out a suggestion for you to ponder other than buying all the rite hardware to lower your car.
What year is the car. I'll look into to it for you....

I have a 12 Journey AWD why do you want to lower it???I think they sit to low now compared to other SUVs..If your not careful the front air dam will hit curbs when pulling into a parking place...Just wondering...Bill

I've been eyeballing that air dam, gonna have to be careful. I don't think of it as an suv, more of a tall station wagon that needs to be lowered. I'm back in the dating scene and feel self conscious about my car (The Charger is hibernating till spring), and my daughters called it a silly girl car the other day. Those are my cards on the table, be kind.
Oh, it's an '09 Bob.

Looks like H&R has some that might do the trick.... However you get a little more than 1"
