It was jumping like crazy and already had the dash apart so figured gauge cluster was easier. I'm Spinning the back with a screwdriver and I hear the magnet carrier rubbing and then a catch and a jump on speedo... Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Did you clean and Lube the Speedometer Cable? That mite be all it needs.... If not the you will need to Overhaul the Speedometer.
