Question Clarification for Electric Ign.

The 2 wires coming from the w. Harness to the coil, is the power/hot wire suppose to go to the positive or neg terminal on the coil? I've seen where the hot wire goes to the neg for ground. Just confused.

here is an "old school" diagram from an early Direct Connection manual. Hope this helps.

Hot wire to + side of coil...
Neg wire to the - side of coil goes out to the Dist.

K thanks. Would a weak coil or alternator make the car not run or run 1-3 secs then stop? Or cause a weak spark?

Yes.... Minimum of 10.5 volts is required to have the system run at all.
No with that being said... One the car is running and if the battery has lets say 11.5 Volt it will run on just that till the voltage drops making the ignition to weak to keep it running... So yes you are rite in your assumption...

If the fuel is no good? that might be what causing it to stall? If its not the ignition loosing its voltage?

Any way of checking the alternator without the car running? Also, there's 1 Braided Ground Strap on the firewall, where should that be grounded to?

Pull the alternator and take it down to your local Parts house that has a bench tester... They can run it for you and see if it's any good......

That strap from the fire wall goes to the engine....

K thanks, right now the ground strap is attached to the firewall to the manifold where the coil bracket is.
