Kill Switch Spec

Looking at adding a kill switch to my MSD 6AL.

From what I can tell, most of the branded switches seem nothing more than a simple toggle.

Does anyone know what's the rating of the switch I can use? Just want to make sure I use something beefy enough for the task.

Thanks in advance.

Kill Switch as in

My car is going to be sitting awhile and I'm installing a kill switch????
OR
When I'm Sitting in the drivers seat I want a kill switch at my finger tips????

The box it self has bigger wires and would need a bigger amp'ed switch.
Where as if your just going to interrupted the coil feed wire, you could use a little less amp'ed switch.....

At any rate... I'm a old Cole-Hersee guy.... Here is for your reading..

You may need a diode for the alt. in the circuit to actually shut it off depending on how it was wired..

This kind. So I can shut off ignition more as a theft deterrent.

Well your link does not work. It only goes to a catalog

There are many ways to "do" a kill switch

If you are running an electric pump and relay, simply hide a switch somewhere, anywhere, even in plain sight, and hook to the relay circuit.

Same deal with MSD, more than one way. Read the MSD destructions. If I remember right, and I might not, did I mention read the destructions, you can GROUND THE WHITE lead and this will prevent the MSD from sparking

You can also put a hidden switch in the SMALL red wire to the MSD. The SMALL red wire is like a relay trigger wire, and does not carry much current.

There are many, many ways to do this. If you have a map light switch and don't use it, you can use that. Some guys have used the cigarette lighter as a grounding switch.

If you have a trunk mount battery, you can mount the switch in the trunk and use a rod with a sliding sleeve to cut it off. NHRA requires cutoff switches to cut off when PUSHED. This means you could construct an operating rod say, 1/4" that is inside a sleeve, so that you can push it and not pull it. All you would have to do to "safe" the car is whack the disconnect ****. To turn the battery back on, you'd have to unlock the trunk and operate the switch.

Many many ways to do this. Remember, not much gets past a roll back. Park the car so it's hard to load, and don't leave the wheels straight if you have a locking column. I'm going to run Bullitt wheels. This means that you can easily slip a plastic coated chain through one wheel, over and around the leaf spring and padlock the thing.

There are also ways to wire stuff up so that if someone tries to "hot wire" it will blow a fuse. Of course you need to think this out in advance. And, you want to REMEMBER how and what you did, so that you don't get into your own car and "forget." Friend of mine used to have a setup on the brake switch. If you pressed on the brake before shutting off the alarm, it would activate a relay and blow som fuses.........to the ignition and pump

Also research cell phone based alarms. This just might be the best way..........hide a cell based device in the car so you can track it if stolen.

I was under the impression you were suggesting a specific switch
