No ignition

Hi guys.

Yesterday I left the car on the garage, everything fine but today the car didn't start. I think the problem is electrical because I already check the fuel delivery and everything is ok, I checked IGN 1 and IGN 2 and both lines has power but the car doesn't want to start

OK so what are we workin on, year, make, model? What do you have for ignition, points, Mopar ECU, Pertronix, MSD, etc? Did you check for spark at the coil?

Sorry I miss some things

Car: Plymouth Fury 1974
Type of ignition: Electronic HEI
Ballast resistor bypassed
Ignition Coil: Mallory 58000 V
No MSD, self contained distributor. I'm using the stock ignition module just for wire the distributor ground.

Thats all

Oh, yikes. You picked one I know about nothing about. If that unit gets power and produces no spark, well then..............

Power to the + side of the HEI ?????
Also make sure the 3 prong plug nearest the cap is plugged all the way in.

If those are good... You ether have a bad coil or the Module is bad... To test them that have to use a DVOM meter and follow the instruction for testing to the T...

I'm going to test if the coil is producing spark. Some idea of How can I wire the ground? (I heard that the coils must be grounded or can get broken)

The vmeter shows 12.63V to the distributor and coil in IGN 1. How can I test if the distributor module is fine?

I misread this. Is this one of those Chinese ebay "ready to run" distributors or what?

I don't know, last year someone on this forum recommended to me this distributor so I bought it

If the distributor is gone, which can be a good option for a HEI setup? maybe MSD or self contained distributors are junk?

Right now I'm a bit confused. I was checking the distributor wiring (don't touch anything). I cranked the engine and fired up at the first time, I tried again four times more and fire without problems, let her idling 15 minutes and fire up again without problems.

what might have caused this?
Does my distributor is "fine" or is just crap? (is exactly the posted one)

Make sure the connections are tight and the engine/distributor has a good ground.
Did you actually check for spark when it wouldn't start ?

Yes, I was checking if I got spark but when I cranked the engine to check If I was getting spark, the car fired up, since this I haven't had problems, today the car always has fired at the first try.

If it happens again look under the distributor cap for condensation.

Did you have a big weather/temperature change overnight.

Yes, the last few days had been a bit hot and nights too cold, the windows always are fogged in the morning.

If I remove the distributor cap, how can put it again without setting the initial advance again?

pulling the cap shouldn't change the timing since the distributor is locked in place.
