1971 Plymouth Scamp

I have recently bought this car about 3 months ago, I used to have a 74 scamp back in 2003. but it was hooped. I decided to splurge buy another one off a friend of a friend. Kind of got screwed in the long run. But I am trying to get to know more about the car and its problems. A friend of mine told me to join and well here I am!

I have been trying to search my vin# and my block casting number but cant seem to know where to look, not that computer savouy! If any one knows anything or knows where to direct me, please help me!!!!

my vin#: VH23GG1R133163

MY BLOCK CASTING #: 4006830 360 8 (not the original block)

I am also looking for the following parts":

-head liner
-all 3 rear seatbelts (want to keep it as original as I can)
-original antenna
-front and rear disc brakes
-power steering (probably with the whole column)(and not column shift either)
-original hood, I have a hood off a duster, with the single cowl (fibreglass) with my is for sale or can trade straight up!
-a husrt pistol grip shifter

On another note, I am trying to buy a 74 scamp again from another buddys buddy, some of the parts I can get out of it, but there is alot of other parts that I dont need and are still good. So if anybody is looking for anything, please let me know.

More details about my car is in my profile. Thanks for viewing and hopefully helping, hahaha!

yeah originally it was a 318, but the guy I bought it off of put a 360 in it. I am going to slowly build a 440 for it, but for now I want all the cosmetics done first, since the 360 was freshly done 5000km's ago.

yeah its not the original block so that wont help. I already have the casting number of the block. its made in windsor ontario, date of man. is 10-4-78, I need to know if its a magnum or race or whatever it is. I cant seem to find any casting numbers that match online.

but yeah your talking about on the plate thats riveted to the driver side, has a bunch of numbers, I was told by someone else that today too.
They are:

V5X END
L31 M21 M25 M31 M88 R11
V1W U 22 C16 C55 G33
EV2 D6XW TX9 AO7 148813
E44 D31 VH23 G1R 133163

I dont know thats all I got, please bare with me, I am new to this, I wanted a new hobbie, hahaha!

thank you guys, and I will, I am going to take some more pics soon, before I do any cosmetic work. Need to replace the white vinyl top, get the car painted, lines are pretty straight but needs a little rust work, barely any but I know its there and it annoys me, lol! But still nedd to get the original hood then find a good automotive painter

yeah I was thinking of leaving but I do want to get the whole car painted properly. I am thinking of taking off the vinyl completely, I like the whole car painted look, then doing the tunnel ram air for a single carb, my buddy wants to make a custom one for the six pack hood I have. So I am thinking about it.

Other than that, today was a good day, fixed my oil leak, thought I did that yesterday with the new rubber gasket, but seems it pissed out worse than it did the day before, so I went to my wifes friend at Mopac, and bought a new set of elderbrock aluminum valve covers and grabbed some silicone dual layer gaskets, ******* worked beautiful, with a 1" aluminum spacer, new gas line. Did a wicked burn out in my driveway, smoked out my neighbour hood, been 6 hrs still smell it, lol! They should make a cologne of that smell. Now I am looking for a sway bar, an elderbrock carb. My kbuddy told me to get away from holley. I like the 750 dp, but it looks like there was a crack in it, and the guy welded it, never noticed it before, until last week. I have seat belts coming out of a duster, met the guy the other night. Seems he works at mopac too! Oh my little man, which is 2 yrs old, loves going for rips with me, if I dont bring he he freaks out and is horrible for the rest of the night, lol! So I bring him!

If anybody has some good advice to what kind of elderbrock carb to buy, please let me know, again I am new to this gakme, slowly learning. And if you have any of the parts I need please feel to let me know, thanks again!

ef8240, I have manual but I am used to power steering, but when you go fast enough, the steering feels like power steering, hahahaha

dodgenut7, yeah I like vinyl tops but I just dont know about my car, so I am pretty sure I will scrap it. I dont know if I am going to keep it the stock colour, I like the hemi orange, but I love black, glossy black, just makes a car so sexy, but at the same time I am trying to keep the car look original at the same time, except the performance, hahaha!

Great car.But the rust starting under that strip may take the whole body out eventually.

The Magnum motors didn't come about till the late 80's AFAIK. A '78 360 will be just an LA motor. Have you considered putting a 383/400 in the scamp? I'm doing something similar with my '70 Duster some day ( ) and will be putting a sroker kit in ti for more CID, with a smaller, somewhat lighter package...

Shcumacher Creative Services has the parts you will need to put a B/RB in an A-Body and it's a pretty painless process compared to years ago LOL! Headers are also easier to work with with the B engine as opposed to the RB. A couple things you will need to do depending on your car, front disk brake conversion, and changing the rear end to handle the new found torque of the big block. If it has the 7.25, you would snap that probably the first time you stepped on the throttle more than granny style ( and I ain't talking Little Old Lady form Passadina either )

Also, you need a radiator for it, cause unless it's an AC car, I doubt the SB rad would be enough if you hop up the BB.

Just a few things to consider...

Good luck

I am working on a 71 Scamp myself. It has a great running 318 and a water pump and tune up will bring it to where i want it. However it has been sitting for a long long time and I am redoing the drum brakes. This is my first project so the terminology I use may not be correct.

This weekend I was starting to replace the wheel cylinder and then the master cylinder. Halfway through I had the steel brake line section from the rubber line to the wheel cylinder snap on me so I am looking to replace those steel lines.

If you have those lines let me know I would love to get them from you.

Or if anyone knows another way or anywhere else to get these please let me know.

Thanks

I'll make an assumption that you are talking about the front. When I do my lines, be they brake, fuel, what have you, I'll be going with something like this set from Fine Lines, or this kit from PST. Both companies are very well regarded, and sell a good quality product.

Yes I was referring to the front I appreciate you picking up on that for me! And thanks for the great links I have been searching everywhere.

On the link for the PST kit on the bottom of the page are those specifically those lines that I was talking about from the hose to the cylinder? I am simply looking at getting it into driving condition right now so by looking at the other lines I believe those are all I need.

Thanks so much!!

edIt: called PST and those are for gm no Chrysler but I found what I needed at finelines!!
