So, this is my first post, and I just have a quick question! I'm going to be a lot more active in these forums once I get more things done to the Duster, but until then I just have a quick question. I'm in the process of putting in an Edelbrock performer 2176 intake, 1406 carb. The intake has a different size port than the most common ones I've seen. Does it matter which gasket I use, so long as it creates a tight seal? This is what it looks like: http://performanceparts.com/part/Edelbrock/2176

Welcome aboard!

Not familiar with Edelbrock carbs (yet), if it's a square bore, (all 4 holes the same size), then you need the first one. If it's a spread bore, (secondary holes are bigger than the primaries), then you need the one on the left in the second picture.

Also, the bore pattern of the carb has to match the manifold plenum opening (ie square or spread bore). Otherwise you'll need an adapter plate/spacer.

Sorry, not sure what shops you have locally for the other parts.

as far as the heater hose connector goes try on of the local auto parts stores they should have a few instock. the carb you have is a square bore and the intake is more for a spread bore so you will need the adapter set to make it work.
