We had some nice weather last weekend, so I tried her new shoes on I also spent a considerable amount of time trying to bring the old 340 back to life. I failed in my attempts this time. I hope I can throw some more money at it here pretty soon to get her back on the road .

For the interim, get it running so I can enter into the local MOPAR show this summer in the project class. This fall is when I will tare it down and start the big block conversion. I want to replace the floor pans, trunk pan, and if the quarters need it, those as well. I want to get a glass front end for it, get the other 400 I found stroked, then new interior, front end, Dana rear end, Mini tubs, Plumb Crazy Purple paint, essentially rebuild the whole car.

IMO the coolest cars are the #s matching pnes but your project till sounds like it will be fun, be sure to keep us posted. Oh BTW, what are you going to do with the 340 once it is pulled?

Lucky for me the /6 that the car came with was pulled a LONG time ago. If this was a numbers car I wouldn't be modding it like this.

The 340 is probably going to end up in my /6 68 Dart. I'm still up in the air about that car. Hmmm...318, 340 440, or another stroker. What to do...

That would be a bit much to ship a 340 from Seattle to Wisconsin. I'm sure I can come up with SOMETHING to put that 340 in As far as numbers go, I'm not against pulling a /6, or even a 318 for that matter to make a faster car. Now, 340 cars and the like I won't mess with. My dream car, besides the E body, is a 71 Demon 340. I have had two in the past, and am really hoping to find another one. I am also on the lookout for a 68 Barracuda Notchback. I might have to sell of a car or two if that opportunity came along

I started rebuilding my carb over the weekend. Got it all torn down and let it soak in carb cleaner. When I went out to put it back together, it started sleeting, then snowing Where is all this Global Warming I keep hearing about?!? It really sucks not having any heat, or 'lectricity for that matter in my garage

They were both 71 340 manual trans cars. The plum crazy purple car was rotted away so bad it was basically a pile of rust with a roof. I think it sat for many years in a swamp up to the top. The second was B5 blue. I lost that one to storage fees

Got the carb all tore apart and found one of the screws that holds the throttle plate to the body of the carb missing I have NO IDEA how it ended up missing, or where it is. I don't think it ended up in a culinder, but who knows...

Also, I found 4 different sized jets in the metering blocks. is that normal?

Hmm...New 3310-2, or find a different carb...

check holley.com they have blown-up diagrams of all their carbs, shoud tell you if they are supposed to have different sized jets. How old of a carb is it, has it been rebuilt before?

jets on the secondary side, must be a double pumper; front pair jets should match; rear pair jets should match, front and rear dont have to match eachother

Not a DP. Vacuum Secondary. I also noticed the secondary metering block has no provisions for a Power Valve...

This was a friends carb that he use to use on a 78 Road Runner 360. He was a good friend back in Texas that spent most of his life messing with Mopars...including working for a guy restoring them. if I knew how to get ahold of him, I'd ask him I'll try and get the different jet numbers when I go back out tomorrow and wrench on it some more...

I haven't finished the carb rebuild yet, i may do that tomorrow. But, I DID pick up some parts today. The guy I talked to at my A-Body forum mae me a great deal on a 400. He was going to put it in his 72 Scamp, but a friend gave him a complete ( I think ) 318 and trans. He made me a deal I could not refuse. Good 400 Block, crank, rods, pistons, 452 heads, TWO Edelbrock DP4B intakes, what looks like an A-Body oil pan, and a Big Block 727 transmission. What's really cool, is not 5 blocks away, I found a craigslist 400/727. This one complete carb to oil pan, fan to drive shaft. You should see how low my poor truck is sitting. I'll post pix tomorrow before I unload it all.

So, that's TWO 400 Big Block Chrysler motors, TWO Chrysler big block transmissions, 727 Torqueflites All for $400.00US

I'm quite tempted to do a compression test on the complete motor to see if it is able to run. If so, I might just order up a set of Schumacher /6 - B/RB engines and drop it in my Dart this fall

I'll post pix tomorrow before I unload my truck, and of my score!

My procrastinating but never went back to the carb I need to pick up a new secondary diaphragm, cause it looks like mine was screwed in in two different places Anyway...I'll get those numbers today, cause I gotta get the poor truck unloaded and fix a few things so I can go check out a Dana 60 rear. if I can get that, and make it work for my Duster, my 8.75 can be moved RIGHT over to the Dart!
