On my 72 Duster 340 4 gear I am trying to replace the over the centre spring. On the new one I have large washers in between the coils but the one in the car I barely have a screw driver in a coil. Does anyone have a trick for getting the old spring out? Thanks

 

Got it out. Glad I did since I have a diaphragm clutch. Now its nice & smooth does not feel like it wants to hang any more.
