Strange leaf spring?
What is this bottom leaf spring for? Is it stock? Will the car go up ur down if removed? It's on a '70 Stock 318 Belvedere.

It's probably time for a new pair of springs, you should also check the front torsion bar crossmember for rust.

If you have plans to put a big block engine in it, get the heavier springs and torsion bars. Don't let anyone talk you into installing longer rear shackles to make up for the weak springs.

Yes, change one at a time you will probably need new U Bolts.

Dont skip looking over the crossmember where the front torsion bars go into the frame. They are prone to rust allowing the bar to turn and car to sag on that side.

Order your parts and start shooting the nuts and bolts with penetrating fluid. Spray them every other day and by time the parts arrive, disassembly may be easier.
