1973 Duster slant 6 performance

Hi, I'm new to the forum so bare with me. I recently bought a 73 duster and spent the last few week when I'm not at work getting it to run better and fixed the little rust on it. However it is only a 198 and I would like to get some more power out of it. I don't need anything crazy because I'm not going to be racing it or anything. What would be the first parts you would upgrade/install? Thanks for everything anything should help!

One of the car shows did a s-6 rebuild a while back and got about 170 HP out of it.
They do make cams, 4V intakes and "headers" for it. Given it's age, you might want to make sure everything else is up to snuff.

Basically, anything that works with a V8 will work with the s-6, but the yield will be less. Still, it can be a fun project, and raise a few eye brows when you open the hood.

I agree with archer but would look for a 225, especially if it needed internal work.

Missed that about the 198, agree with Iowan, a 225 would be a better s-6. but ... if you're planning an engine swap, a small v-8 might be a better bet - but certainly more work. Just depends on YOUR short and long term goals.

Minor stuff like an intake and small 4v carb might help get your feet wet and let you know where you want to go next.

Just hard for us to make suggestions without knowing what's on YOUR mind (and budget) now and in 6 months. Yes, it becomes additive.
