Help with non mopar engine oil psi

Ok so non mopar related.

Years ago my grand dad (before passing) built a 429 cobra jet engine for a 67 ford galaxy fastback - the engine was dynod and made 510 hp according to the dyno papers. However something happened with the car and he never got a chance to install the engine...... I just got a 67 fast back again and have started to complete what my grand dad set out to do but I'm having the weirdest freaking issue.....
When the engine first starts it shows 8 to 12 psi at idle - increases with revs as it should .... once the engine warms up it shows 30 psi and goes up with revs as it should.... the exact opposite of what should happen *psi should be lower when up to temp* higher psi when cold....
I have tired 3 different brand oil gauges.
I have changed the oil pump.
I'm running royal Purple 10/40
There's no rattles or Wierd noises.
We have pulled the engine apart 3 times now trying to figure out what is going on!
No metal in oil or oIL filter -
Rings and bearings all look normal.
I have tried multiple ports for the gauges - same results.
I gave up about 2 weak ago and have decided to just drive it - 2 weaks 1000 miles and no issues......

Anyone got any clue what is going on?

Sounds strange but what oil filter are you using? Ford's need an oil filter with good drain back protection, I have seen them start up starved for oil.

Also it might be the oil, I have a Neon that rattles cold with synthetic but quite with conventional.

Hummmm.... A couple things come to mind when I look at this problem.. What the oil pressure range at idle and off idle when cold and hot.
1. I agree with Iowan... Use a good wix type filter. And For me and where I am at. I would change the motor oil to a Castrol GTX 30W H.D. or 40W H.D.
But that is just my preference, not really knowing anything about this particular engine build.
I would change the oil and filter, and recheck it and see what it shows and see if that improves the problem?
The only other thing that comes to mind, (All thing being good on the assembly side of the engine.) Is the oil pump drive. It must have good fitment. If its sloppy, I could see where it could skip when the it's cold and be somewhat ok when the oil thins out. Some of the parts we get now days are a little iffy. Just food for thought. But then at this point you would think the part would have failed completely.

Keep us posted...... You have my curiosity now?
