I recently purchased a 1972 D100 and it’s needing most of the brake system replaced. I’m having trouble locating brake calipers for it. Does anyone know if later year (73-79) will be direct fit or if something from another model will work? None of the usual part stores seem to have of the correct part number in stock. Thank you in advance for any help on this.

 

That is unfortunate. If your cores are still in good enough shape (bores not pitted) you may have to try and rebuild your calipers instead.





Issues like part availability and poor quality control makes me wonder how much longer we can keep this old iron on the road (in stock form)...

 

That will definitely be my plan if I can’t find any replacements, I’m just hoping they are in decent shape if it comes to trying to rebuild them, sadly though this truck has been pretty neglected the past decade.

For sure, it’s getting harder finding things that were somewhat common even just a few years ago.

 

The OEM/interchange numbers for the driver side are 3579265, 3634503.
The OEM/interchange numbers for the passenger side are 3579264, 3634502.

Google searches didn't reveal much.. other than for some reason there is a listing on Alibaba (which is like China's version of Amazon).

I can't say what you would end up with (if anything) if you ordered from them. I don't even see how to specify which side you want.

So.. not very helpful and I personally wouldn't try it but, I though it was interesting that parts for a 50 year old American vehicle are for sale on a foreign online marketplace.

That's what i've been coming up with as well with a Google search.

If the shipping cost for the ones from Alibaba were a little more reasonable, i'd take the risk on at least ordering them and checking them out. It would also take a couple months to receive.

Thank you for your effort and the OEM/Interchange part numbers. I'm going to attempt to rebuild the ones I have, but if that fails I may start looking at swapping out a few parts (spindle, etc) from a later model, if I can locate any local scrap/auto parts yards. That should allow me to utilize the later model calipers.

I've searched on there, but the only ones I see are not "exact fit" and look quite different, granted they usually can be stock photos.
