I am restoring a 1972 W200, and I am having problems with turn signals and stop lights. Testing for power and continuity through the turn signal switch, I can see that is where the problems are. I have not yet taken the steering wheel apart, but from the connector adapters, I can see that it is not the correct switch. Ideally, I would want to replace it with a correct switch, but that looks to be difficult, if not impossible, to obtain. The 1972-1973 light truck parts manual lists part number 3488805 for D & W trucks, but for the non-tilt steering wheel only. No clues for the part in the tilt steering wheel, which is of course what I have. So, has anyone else been through this? If so, does anyone know the correct part number, and/or where to find one? Or, does anyone have a suggestion for an aftermarket part that can best be made to work?
(All aftermarket switch listings that I can find for that truck also explicit say "for non-tilt steering wheel only". If anyone can comment on what the tilt vs. non-tilt issue is, please do.)
Ok.... See how you come out with a TW-4 Standard Motor Parts (SMP).... Look like not to bad of a price @ Rock Auto... Please double check application before ordering....

So I managed to pull out the old turn signal switch, and the issue is a lot clearer now... The steering column is not original. I believe that it is a tilt column out of something like a 1978 truck. The hard part about matching up a generic turn signal replacement is that the hazard flasher switch **** is about three inches down the column from the turn signal switch itself. The **** is attached to a funky lever, inside the column, that activates the actual hazard switch.
The Shee-Mar SM115 turn signal switch appears to be an exact match, though I can't see for sure from the picture that it will mate up with the funky lever. I have one on order, so, we'll see...

Reach out to Joe Leonard at mopartruckparts.com he's got a grail of used and NOS parts
Dodge never made a tilt column for the 70's and 80's trucks. They bought GM made units. My '85 D250 has tilt and it is very GM looking. Not 100% sure but maybe the 80's Chebby truck parts will work.
Right... I see now that the tilt column I'm working with is not original, and is out of a GM vehicle. I was able to make the Shee-Mar switch work, but since I don't know exactly what the column is, the modification details aren't of interest here. It was dicey, but it works great now.
Thanks...
