just bought my first American Pick-up. Im from and live in Scotland and managed to find a very rust free D300 Dually that has its original 400ci engine. As you can imagine there is not a huge amount of these in the UK so I had to travel to the opposite end of the country to pick it up. On the 550 mile drive home I managed to accurately work out the MPG and I was a little disappointed. At a steady 60mph I was getting 9mpg and when I dropped it to a steady 55mph I got 10.4mpg. Does this sound right to the experts here?
I was told that when the truck was in the US it was owned by a Transmission shop that also raced a Barracuda. Ive been told it has a warm cam, forged pistons and itts now running a Holley 750DP.
Thanks for all the replies guys. Good to confirm that the mileage is in the right range.
Well, Ive managed to catch one of the rear Dually Tubs on the back of a Trailer and wrecked it. It it called a Tub or is there a better name for it as I need to start searching for a replacement. As its fiberglass I'll look into getting it repaired but I think I need a replacement.
The Tub needs to be removed but then its not legal to drive here in Scotland with the wheels exposed so can the outer wheels be removed and driven with just the inners or does it not work that way?
Many thanks for the reply and links. Really appreciate that!
Well I'll hardly be hauling much weight so if I can remove the Fiber Glass Fenders til I get a replacement or have mine fixed. Any idea where Id find the spacers Id need?
The question is??? What type of lug nut and washer are on the truck?
If it is just a stud mount and a washer, You can just add washers to make up the difference of the wheel that your going to take off...
If the Wheel needs the Lug nut that centers the wheel? Then I would say you would just need some lug nuts that dont have an end cap on them...
