Cab vent question
Cab vent question
Not a big deal, I am just a bit puzzled. In doing some more clean up work on my son's 1989 D100 I noticed something was in the driver's side fresh air vent. Upon a bit of exploration I discovered (& removed) a rusty 14 inch set of Channel Lock pliars. My question is how did they get in there and where is the intake at for the air for this vent located?
The cowl is the intake for the fresh air vents.
The channel locks... who knows. Someone may have been working under the dash or on the floor some where and put them there as a holding spot and forgot about them.

My guess is somebody had that cowl vent off and was trying to change the wiper bushings, dropped them and said FIDO ...........because it was ten to five on a Friday and, they were borrowed pliers.
FWIW, it is not that easy to remove the vent cover on this 1989 D100. The bottom two screws are OK, but the top two screws appear to need rhe parking brake pedal removed to get to them. As I said, not that big of a deal.
I hear you on that one. Vans, I believe, have drilled holes in the parking brake bracket, so you can poke a screw driver right through to get those pesky screws. But not on the "D's".
Our solution is this ratcheting set for close quarters. A perfect solution.......the bit snaps in the ratchet and you can push down on it.
