Doing away with emissions junk

Hi all, i have a 85 D150 that has all the emissions junk, carb, catalytic converter ect. In New Zealand i don't that stuff. Can i just eliminate all that stuff and put a conventional carb on?
Does the timing ave to change?
What i do i do with the gas tank return line

Most important to check local emission testing laws. What your asking is easily doable with ignition vacuum, initial and total timing having to be addressed. The return line will be from the charcoal canister and act as the tank vent which will need to be left open, leaving it attached is not a bad idea.

If the distributor is in good order it can be tuned just fine. If you have a BDD carb now it also can be tuned to work. There are many You Tube videos on these subjects.

Be sure you know the emissions laws as here they are complicated and have changed over the years. In the past I have tuned a truck with F.I. to carb conversion to meat F.I. tail pipe emissions. I have a friend with an El Camino that was inspected and threatened a fine for removing the exhaust air pump, luckily another friend had one and got him out of the jamb. The F'd up part is that they didn't do an exhaust gas analysis after the repair.

I forgot narrative. I think i will connect a couple things back up and install the air cleaner and see how it runs.
The item i'm pointing to is connected to the charcoal canister, where does that open nipple connect to?
The last item was attached to the carb, what is it;s function?
Cheers
