So I have a 1973 440 that runs.

It's got a Holley 4160 on top seems to run OK. It's in a motorhome with what used to be a working 727. The thing drove before, but in trying to revive it, it will do reverse, but all I can get it to do is seem to strain forward. I mean it revs, and it seems to wanna roll forward, but no real movement or spinning tires in any gear D-1st. It's butted up against a tree from behind. The driveline e brake works and isn't stuck.

I'm figuring the tranny is bad, considering the fluid looks fine, level is good.

I did read that the servos in these stock were crap. I really have lilllte idea what a servo is, I figure it activates the band? I've been told sometimes just repairing servos can get one to move again, and can be done in the rig? If I could do that, the Winne needs a roof, but with everything else there, I might just roof it, as I have hear, when done right, the winne will last forever.

The engine runs strong, pops a bit, like it has sat, but I think cleaned up is a low miles engine.

So my options are getting that 727 to work, or pulling the 440 for my 318/727 van. If I did all that I'd prolly go through all the rings and bearings in the 440 just go stock, lap the valves, hone it all out, make it ready for long miles. If it stays in the Winne, it starts put together, just gets maintenence till a later date (no freakin way I wanna work on it in the Winne!).

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on the 727 mostly, I would like to move the rig from where it is. And what you guys would do with it.
