413 ?

i have recently got my hands on a 72 413 and it came with a set of 440 heads the heads need to be totaly rebuilt and was wondering if there were worth it. i want a high performance motor but not really wanting to spend years building it new to site so any advice is hellpful thanks in advance

Save some money first. Rebuild the heads. Throw them back on the 413 and see what she will do.

Probably a typo.. a 413 is 1962 base for the 413 MaxWedge motor. Yes it is worth building !!

Also this motor came out of a motormen home and I know on some the can turned backwards but I can't tell becase it dose not have the water pump so is there any sign besides the water pump

Aw, come ON. 413s and 440s were used in MANY trucks and motorhomes. Just because you have "an engine" does not make the thing an HP engine.

"Maxi" engines were mostly pistons, cam, heads an intake, all expensive pieces, and certainly not what you'll find on the average 413/ 440

If he's unlucky enough to have the "different" heavy truck heads with the "high" mount water pump, what he basically has here to start with is a block and a crank.

Ya 440roadrunner your right the block and crank r really the only thing worth useing and the 440 heads came off a car or so the Guy says it has dish pistons and is just a block crank pistons and heads

What is/are the casting numbers on the passenger side of the engine block?

413 pistons are very expensive, get a 440 to build

Ill have to look on block tomarrow ob the outher head instead if 3 it has a 4

Correct me if I'm wrong but from what ive red I have a set of desireable 915 close chamber heads sorry for all the stupid questions but never built a big block molar before and want to do it right
