2 ND Gear slip

I have a 1972 Duster 360 street built somewhere between 350-400 Hp. It has a 904 torque flight transmisson. The other day I was driving and did 1st to 2nd shift and it spun the tires (It has a B&M shift improver upgrade in the valve body..I was on the go pedal pretty hard so it was planned) everything was fine with the shifts the rest of the day.Parked the car in the garage. A couple of days later I went for a cruise, and when I shifted to 2nd it slipped if I let off the gas and eased into it it was ok but as soon as I stepped down on the gas it would slip. I checked the fluid and now it reads over full, it was right on the mark before and now it is over full. Any thoughts....Bill

That's a tough one. I would ask a 35yr Chrysler tech with master tech status.

Slade... No 9 Speeds allowed in a Duster........

Humm... Overfill.... Dont see how that can happen unless the radiator cooler is leaking.....

Sounds like the old (I have to lift off the throttle to make it shift to second) Valve body malfunction problem....

And for the better of all of us on the Forum... Please Guys agree to disagree
We are all here to give our opinion weather it's rite or wrong.... It's all about helping each other with our passion... Thanks Guys

Start with the basics Check the throttle pressure linkage, and Check the band adjustment

Yup, your right As a 35 year master tech I know the answer. But it was just a test to see who else did. The problem is real and just wanted a second opinion to check myself. Before pulling the transmission to replace the teflon seal that failed filling the pan over full.. But some people on here just like to start sh-t and make people that dont really know or are in need of help. And then send them on a wild goose chase so they are so confused they look stupid.. And really how did that help them.. But after I disassemble it I will let you know for sure what it was..Have a good day all. As racerhog said we are all here to help one another if not than get the hell off the site...Bill

I don't understand how asking a question you know the answer to is helping anyone, maybe just your ego.

Why not use your experience to answer members questions and really help, like you say your trying to do?

I don't see how this "question" helps anyone. If YOU really want to "help" someone, post the whole blow by blow,

"My transmission did this"

I.....................did this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that...........checked this, thought it might be.......etc and discovered .................bla bla bla

You know when you posted this it would start a fight and that is exactly what you wanted.

Besides, none of the rest of us "are there" and don't know what you've checked or not

This isn't high school, and you are not my shop teacher.

When is it? Where are you located? It also will depend on whether the car is fixed or not. If Im going to remove the transmission it is going to be completely rebuilt with kavlar clutches and a stall convertor, etc. which I should of done at the time of the build but got into to much of a rush to want to drive it. There was a car show on fathers day I wanted to attend and ended up in the hospital instead. But I will see whats what at the time and maybe I'll just go and check it out with or without the car...Bill

Awwww... The old "Morning Sickness" we called it.... When those failed it allowed the converter to drain back into the trans and they loved to leak out the dipstick and onto the floor !!!!!!

Keep us posted on what you find on the 1-2 shift problem..

Dont forget John @CRT....
