1966 charger

I have a 66 charger with a 361 and 727 trans. i bought it to restore and have fun with. I recently ordered some performance parts to go with the rebuild, performance cam, lifters, double roller timing chain, and headers. I also had the trans beefed up a bit. Am I wasting my time trying to build this motor for good performance? Ive heard its a boat anchor.

Thanks,
Tony

I ended up running some numbers and found out it is a low deck 383. I favor the short stroke and larger bore for the B block over the RB 383. Thank you for the reply.

Coming along great. Decent speed pro cam, ported and polished 906 heads, weiand action plus intake, edelbrock 750 carb. Runs like a raped ape.
