ive got a 66 dodge charger with a 318 wide block. im wanting too know is the wide block concidered a big block as far as the transmission goes?

understand you confusion i hear alot of ppl say they got a big block 318, referring to the poly, but truth is its just a small block, same crank and there are other things that will fit the LA 318,

 

What are the differences between the 318 A (poly, wide block, etc.) and the 318 LA motors?

 

.Tim, I know the heads ,intake, valve covers, adn rocker /pushrod setup are different. I think the front of the motor is diff. too. the cahin cover and water pump setup/

 

cam is different, to match the poly style rockers,
i heard the other day that you can put poly heads on a LA and the other way around, i cant see that to be true? but ill match some heads up when i get back to where everything is,
