Grandpas car

My grandparents bought a 63 Dodge Polara when I was a kid, and of course I fell in love with it.

When I turned 16 I tried to buy it from them. Even though they didn't drive it much grandma wanted to keep the car.

Over the next 20 years I would ask them if they were ready to get rid of that old Dodge. Finally when I was about 25 grandma said " billy when I'm done driving it you can have it" I was elated.

My grandma passed away 4 years ago, and grandpa told me today that he stopped driving and wants to sell the car. Honestly this gives everyone in the family that may want the car a chance to own it.

So I need help to determine the value of this car.

It is going to break my heart if this car ends up out of the family.

Details: Car is a 63 Polara 2 door hard top.

318 and push button auto
99,000 miles always garaged
white with red interior, bucket seats
not a dent or scratch.

I don"t have any pics of the car but it looks just like this one

Not a real desirable car to most. In good shape I'd say maybe $5,000-$7,500 and that is assuming that there is very little to no rust.

Thanks for posting. The car has no rust, always garaged since new.

I think I'll offer him $5000 and then go up as need.

The value (in the case of this car), involves childhood memories. So that will play into how much I'm willing to pay.

Sounds like you and your grandpa should have a sit down and you should tell him what your grandma said and how much you would like to have this car!
Include the "childhood memories"!

Then make him an offer!

Take it from me. My great grandma had a '59 Cadillac Coupe Deville, with 49,000 miles, that she told me that I could have when she passed away. I'm not sure of the details but, someone else in the family, swooped in just before she died, bought it and still has it. I think about it every time I see a '59 Cad.

So, having it in the family.... may have it's drawbacks too!

Good luck!

“OK. I’ve never tried to spin my wheels and I used to drive many of those cars.” - I'm not sure, but I believe the people driving those cars were kinda prepared for the show..
Besides, I sometimes spin my wheels. Admittedly.
Last time I did, I hit a bus on the freeway close to my home.
