Need help!! 440 BIG BLOCK!!!
Need help!! 440 BIG BLOCK!!!
Well I just bought a salvage yard 440 big block, can't wait to start working on it, but I need to know how to make cheap power, I'm 18 years old I need cheap power right now, I can't afford a stroker kit. But I can afford a new cam and lifters and things like that. Also what do I need to know about this engine and how do I know where it has come from. The old owner, which is today's owners father, hid the engine under a bunch of things in a back of a old Chevy bed, it had sentimental value to him. So that's why I'm wandering where this thing has come from. Please help!!!
You want cheap power, you've got it. Even a stock rebuild your sporting 480 ft/lbs torque. http://www.lhmopars.com/engines.htm
See what you've got, one step at a time, don't go tearing apart just to look inside. Let us guide you as there is a lot of information to gather while it's together and if disassembly is in order, doing it slowly while inspecting and measuring can save headaches and help answer where to spend money.

Plus I'm a senior in high school working a part time job, so this ain't gonna be a fast build, I'm way more worried on the engine then a truck I'll be buying a long time from now. I have a whole bunch of highperformance parts from my uncle cause he's doing a 440 build for his super bee and he has parts that he didn't need, including a brand new comp cam
