Rack & Pinion Steering A body

I'm in process of installing R & P on my 65 Dart Convert. The exhaust manifold on the drivers side is going to be in the way of the steering shaft. anyone know of another manifold that would clear the K-frame once the old steering box is removed?

Niether do I but welcome aboard. I have heard of people using a Ford Mustang II rack and pinion on thier mopars. They also convert the end of the steering column to a heim joint and and some square bar stock and swivel joints to move it out of the way.

There's more to it than just bolting in a R & P Or you could end up with an evil handling car..
Maybe a 340 exhaust manifold would work

The 340 manifold is the same as what I have. I'm thinking a truck manifold which dumps in the center, but I don't know how or if that will clear the K frame. I think I have the rest of it worked out. Will post pics when I'm done.

also make sure the rack you have is correct to where you are putting it. ie don't put one made to go behind the tires or one made for the rear infront of the tires.

What year and body style would i look for to find one of these magnum manifolds? Would I need to change both so that they match?

Here are a couple to view, and I'm curious if it is rear steer.

The unit I'm planning to use is rear steer. It is from a chevy cavalier. It is the same width +/- an inch. It has enough adjustment to make that work. What I like about this unit, is that the tie rods attach at the center of the unit. I think it will be easy enough to mount. I will have to change the drivers side exhaust manifold to clear the steering shaft to the unit. My car is in the paint shop now. I'll post some pics when i get it back and start on this project.

Thanks. The origonial manifold circles around the power steering box and is going to be right in the way I think. I haven't done a test fit yet. the car is at the paint shop. I hope to have it back in my shop in a few days.

I went by to check on the progress today and took a few pics. It's coming along.
