SRT8 (finally!) advice on selling RT?

After 5 years of fun with the Magnum RT, bought a Magnum SRT8. Got any advice?
Car will not downshift to 1st above 20 mph (tried fuse 11)
Other than that I love it.
Considering ceramic pads to cut down the brake dust.
Will need tires before the snow flies, and it's my daily driver. Ideas?
Lastly, how do I sell the RT? Tried Autotrader, Craig's list, no calls. Seems priced right to me - your thoughts?

Did your R/T downshift into 1st under 20mph? I have honestly never tried it in mine, could be programmed not to allow such a move. Was the fuse you replaced blown?. On your 05 R/T what is the mileage and condition? What is your asking price? They don't seem to bring alot of attention on EBay either.

Thanks for the reply! The RT has entirely different shift points. It's down shift "fun kick you in the seat" speeds were 20 and 40 mph. The SRT8 will run up to 40 mph in 1st on initial WOT launch, but will only downshift to 1st if under 20 mph. I miss the kick! Fuse 11 was fine - the forums talk about pulling fuse 11 to reset the adaptive learning on the transmission and then "drive it like you stole it" so it learns how you like to drive. The 05 RT has 34k miles and the condition is very clean inside and out. It's been babied, Royal purple synthetic oil every 3k miles and so on. Garaged, one owner, etc. Black, nav, 6 disc changer, Boston sound, side air bags, leather, power sunroof, rack, you name it. New tires and brakes and a bumper to bumper Dodge warranty xferable to protect the buyer until Jan 2013 or 80k miles - that's peace of mind! I'm asking $17,700 and getting no calls - what's wrong? Kelly and other sites suggest $18k.

I bought ours 2.5 years ago from a Dodge dealer. Same equip as yours , no roof rack, w/23K on it for $17K w/ 4 new tires and balance of 7 year 100K bumper to bumper warranty. Check EBay for recent sales, Probably won't get more then $12K -$13K for it. Dealer offered me $13.5K trade in on $33K '10 Challenger Classic last year.

Welcome!

The ad ID that you posted doesn't seem to be acknowledged.

As for the shifting "issue", it could just be how the control module is programmed to help the transmission to live longer. There may be a flash/performace flash that is available for it though.

Yes, Tim, that's the one

Yes, Tim, that's the AutoTrader post. I have researched differences between Edmunds and Kelly pricing and found that they serve different audiences. The selling price should be somewhere between them. I have dropped the price to 16,400, may need to go further. Your advice and support is helpful!
BTW - glad to see good words about "happily married" Same here, closing in on 40 years.

Thanks for asking! It's great to have someone remember and inquire. We still have not sold it. I'm down to an advertised $14,999 with only one call so far. What a learning opportunity! What I've learned so far:
1) this is not the car to sell going into a winter
2) I got biped on the back end a few months ago with $450 damage, not even worth repainting, but now I have a CarFax accident report - you can't even see the damage!
3) this car does not appeal to average buyers, I can advertise it as a safe car, a fast car, a utility car, even a decent gas mileage car - but it seems that the appeal of one aspect is cancelled by another. My wife wants to dump it on the mercy of a local car dealer, but I'm not so sure yet... they have no mercy.

The SRT8 is great! Needs tires, and I've found that it can hydroplane easily on a rainy freeway - very scary! But on dry pavement, it's the beast I thought I bought. Thanks for your support on the forum!

By the way - when I was a kid my uncle had a satellite and blew past my Dad's Buick like it was standing still - I was in the back seat very alert - Loved muscle cars every since. Glad I could complete my bucket list... Now to sell that R/T....
