1972 727 Torque Specs

Hello,

Since I have not gone out and purchased a manual for my 1972 Charger, I do not know the torque specs for the transmission pan bolts. I am going to changing the filter and pan gasket and it occured to me it would be good to know what to torqu the bolts to so I do not over compress the gasket.

Any help?

Thanks, Jake

I'd say somewhere around 13ft lbs.

Just get them "snug" and you're good

I think its 150 inch pounds for the T-pan. So roughly 12.5 ft-lbs.

150 in/lbs is correct.

Excellent. Thank you for the information.

One more question. I believe the car originally used Type II tranmission fluid, however, I have heard that people sometimes use Type F because of the improve friction modifiers. I am not sure if this tranmission has a shift kit, I suspect it does, but I am not 100% sure.

So, should I stick with type II or is it safe to use type F?

Thanks, Jake

B&M Trick Shift is what I use, but only because I get a deal on it.

Well, transmission has been serviced, bolts torked to 12.5. New filter, gasket, and 5 quarts of B&M Trick Shift. Fixed a leak with the speedo housing, adjusted the shift linkage, and inspected the rear seal and ujoints.
