So a few months back i bought the 67 coronet 4 door for 500 bucks! Wasnt a mopar guy but its hard not to be when you actually have one, anyways put in the edelbrock four bbl intake and carb did some exhaust work during wich i broke a stud off in the drivers head so i had to pull it,
Got everything back on, started up ran perfect, a week ago on the freeway this chirp started under the hood, replaced water pump abd belts, no luck so i took of belts and cranked it to make sure it wasnt a pulley, no luck
Yesterday Found the most likely source of the noise a rocker shaft bolt shim is rubbing on the rocker! It moves a little side to side and the noise is on and off
I torqued the head bolts to 65 lbs and retourqued them after about 200 miles
Lowest setting on my wrench is 25 and even at that i busted a rocker shaf bolt in the head, came out in one piece though
I ordered a rebuilt rocker assy but not sure why the new one wont do the same thing

wont do what?

 

Wont rub on the bolt shim and squeak
When i looked at it you could see where it rubs and heated up on the shim

 

Problem solved!
Installed new rocker shaft and rockers(same pushrods and bolt shims) still not sure what it was exactly but its quiet now

 

what size motor do you have?
