Total Timing

I have read that to set your total timing it is necessary to attach a tape with timing marks on it to the balancer.

My question is about this tape, is it motor specific and can it be purchased at most any auto parts store?

Thank you
Joe.

Any decent parts store will carry it. HB diameter and motor size does matter on some.

I used the timing tape, but they do fall off. So I used it as a marking tool and did this. Used a cold chisel and numbering set borrowed from a toolmaker at work. Laid in some yellow paint later, and "voila!", poor-boy degreed balancer!
