1969Charger Stripe

Anyone have the measurements for stipe on rear of 1969 Charger. Painted stripe about to be done and want to make sure it's correct. Width of wide stripe that goes over rear quarter side marker lights. How much distance between wide stripe and smaller stripes on either side. How wide are the smaller stripes?? Please help soon.

Thanks,

Dusty1969

Looks like the carbed 5.9 Magnum in my RC is getting swapped for a low mileage 93 5.2 Magnum/518 OD from another RC while my CrewCab becomes a Canyon Sport with 4 buckets 2 consoles w power windows & mirrors.

I want to use the RC tail from the doors back & build a CrewCharger Dually

A couple of real easy, Non Stroker, Keep It Simple Stupid, Pump Gas, 500hp "street" 440 Engines for a change !
Just "out of the blue" I get not 1, But TWO requests for std Inch 440's ! GO FIGURE ?
Easy peazy.... and far more time friendly on the old, supposed to be "retired" Guy thing !

One of them is even using stock "LY" Connecting Rods, requiring just a Beam & Harden with ARP Bolts......I can't remember the last time I beamed a set of stock Rods ?? Gotta be well over 15 years ?
YIPEE ! "Nostalgia" Engine Building !

Anybody wants to follow along, I'll post Pics as we go ?

Thanks,
Plan is for 2001ish 5.9 motor.
Already have good low mileage one that will get a refurbish when the time comes.
Initial start up will be with current 360 while all the bugs are worked out.
Reasoning for the later model 5.9 is that the P/S pump and alternator are mounted much closer to the motor providing additional room for the turbos.
The WP is also somewhere around 2 inches shorter. The shorter W/pump is what ended up allowing my plan to work. I am retentive about not cutting the sheetmetal.
Eddy heads -Need/want-
T3 Eb@y turbos -Have-
A833 4 speed to remain.
M1 intake. -have- I will be going fuel injection but initial startup with carburator.
Fuel Injection controlled with Megasquirt most likely. LS coils with crank and cam triggers
Crank trigger already made and will use a locked out lean burn dizzy for a cam signal.
Magnum P/S unit being relocated to similar position on existing motor.
Fuel system currently being setup with a Walbro inline unit and adding a return.
Probably Hotchkiss frame connectors.
Currently welding to complete the hot side piping in SS.
Cold side to include dual intercoolers with custom tanks. Partially completed.
Aluminum piping also welded by me.
Power brakes already converted to Hydroboost adapted from a later model Mustang.
Car will also get air added.
Many of the items listed are already partially started. I tend to bounce around alot. Start a project. let it sit... think about it for awhile... let it sit... figure it out and then jump on it until the next thought session.

Teaser shot of the intercoolers and mounting brackets. They are not complete. lowers will be cut off shorter and transition into the round piping.

With the shorter Magnum accessories I will be pulling the radiator off of the core support by approximately 2.5 inches and locating it closer to the motor. This "gap" is where the piping will pass through. All brackets mount and bolt on to core support utilizing existing holes.

All this will be completed without ANY major cutting. All in all there will only be a few screw and bolt holes added.
Rear battery relocation being one of them.

Mike.

Neat Mike..... So this is going to be a street car?
At first I was thinken this was going to a PSCA or the NMCA running car...lol
Nice work...Keep us posted...
The Megasqurt has a great tuning platform as an efi.... But it will be a big differance from the blowthrew.....

Like the project...Very Cool...Nice Fab Work.... Hope to see it out and about here in So-Cal at some the events in the future...

Thanks,
Motor will remain a standard 5.9 production block with forged internals.
Keeping the goals reasonably modest for it. Aim is for around 500-550 at the crank. This is a home built project and this will be a 100% street car I plan on putting many more miles on it. Air conditioning will also be added with these changes. It is more of a project over a hp goal. I am a machinist by trade (plastic injection toolmaker specifically) and have a diverse amount of abilities from basic machining thru full 3D cad designing and cnc programming. No where near the best but diverse.

I attended (spectator only) the fall fling in Van Nuys recently. First time there but I do plan on attending the Spring fling with my car this time around. Car is together stock. I have been building and fitting things on it and then removing them again so I can still drive it. Yes, I understand there will be a very difficult learning curve with the Megasquirt. However, I have my hands in everything else so why not that? what could go wrong???
There has been a significant amount of items done so I will post up soon my own thread to show.

Mike.

here ya go Bob....
One 440 is a stock LY Rod, Forged Piston deal @ 500hp....the other 440 is using Eagle H-Beams, Forged Piston around 530hp...both are mushy Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam Street Engines....
Very easy doing 2 basically the same....at the same time...saves machine setups ! and so nice to work with easy stock stroke stuff !

The "stock" ly Rod deal is first up to assemble
* Bored & Honed with a Torque Plate in my old Sunnen CK10(if my T/Plate looks a little BIG on the 440 Bore it is because it is for 4.500" Bore Mega-Mopars, but it still works on the small bore 440)

Forged Pistons On the Rods...note these are stock LY rods, so we "pin-fit" both the Pistons...and the interference in the Rod...so we only have to heat them "straw" colored for the pin to slide in nice, then come back round when cool.
Rod "Heaters" are for butchers ! So are "purple" Rods half way down !

We also Align Honed the Mains for the ARP Studs(no photo), but those are the Main Bearings & Clrc in this Pic.

Here's the 2nd 440 Mopar for next week waiting it's turn for short assembly... it looks a little "forlorn" sandwiched between 2 BB Chevy projects(1 is a KB Aluminum Chevy Block W/EPD Heads)

This 440 is using H-Beam Rods... a little more power....but BOTH Engines are using the Él Cheapo 440 "Stealth" Heads.....which we still have to Port & Flow.
If ya want...I will post the Porting Pics & Data....because we Dyno every Engine before it leaves, and these will be as well....so a nice proven power package for future reference ??

these are my projects. my 81 d150 and 93 ramcharger. my 81 has been a great low maintenance truck. i think i might need some new connecting rod bearing and maybe some new main bearing and the engine would be happy once more. i also got a used cam and heads for it that will hopefully be going on this summer.
now my ramcharger is a fun little vehicle but it has been a huge drain on my wallet. currently needs a new fuel pump. i am actually hoping i can save up a bit more money and just get a ramcharger that is in better shape to put the 93's engine and transmission into.

From: PNW, and LOVING IT!
My GF gave her 200 to her daughter, so that drops off the list.

So, I bought a new Avenger Blacktop.
  • 1970 Duster - Stroker 400, Dana 60 project... For Sale...
  • 1971 Demon Sizzler - 5.9 magnum/46RE/8.75, Hemi Orange
  • 1997 Ram 3500 CTD, DRW - repairs...belts/hoses, brakes... NEW TIRES IN THE BACK! Putting in a nice stereo for long hauls of the 5th Wheel.
  • 1989 40' Alpha gold Fifth Wheel - conversion to a car/toy hauler?
  • 2003 Durango - Needs brakes, new glove box latch, window switch panels. Thinking of upgrading the stereo in that one too...
  • 2013 Avengers Blacktop - Remote start alarm, speaker upgrade, amps and subwoofer install. There isn't much tuning you can do to these cars, due to lack of popularity, or strength of the trans... so, I will probably have to live with 284HP for a while.
  • And the big project, a new house and shop. I'm really pushing for the shop first, but I think I'm losing that battle. We had to purchase another travel trailer as the Alpha isn't really a livable unit now, and the mobile home on the property is falling apart. Spoke to a builder last week about putting up a 2800 sq Ft home with a daylight basement, unfinished, and a 3500 sq Ft shop. If the numbers work, maybe get it all for around $250K.
I need to shut up and get to work. Have a great day Molar Forums peeps!

Final Dyno results

OK, apologies here.... been busier than a one-legged man at an *** kicking contest !

anyways, here are the results.
Engine #1 486 H.P. / 554 Ft/lbs Torque

Engine #2 546 H.P. / 563 Ft/Lbs Torque

Quick recap;
* 2- .060" over 440 builds, both stock forged steel cranks 3.75" stroke
* same ICON forged pistons
* same Edelbrock performer rpm Intake Manifolds
* same 850 cfm Holley Carbs.
* Both using 440 source Stealth Heads
- #1 Engine OOTB Stealths
- #2 Engine Ported Stealths
* Both using Flat Tappet Hydraulic Cams.
- #1 Engine with the XE274
- #2 Engine with the XE284

440 Engine #1 using OOTB Stealths, XE274, Edelbrock RPM Intake & 850 Carb, this version of the 2 Engines is a "one up" from a stock type resto rebuild, good idle, lotsa vacuum for brakes, all done right around 5,000 rpm just like a stock 440 magnum, great for 3.23 gears and 2200-2400 stall convertor.
This is a "leave it in D" and just drive it Engine
486 hp @ 5,000 rpm with 554 Ft/Lbs Torque at 3,500 rpm.
Torque is higher even lower.
Name: IMG_zps0642a204.jpg
Views: 177
Size: 95.2 KB

440 Engine #2 here
is a more modified version of the same parts package, using PORTED Stealths and Port matched Edelbrock Performer rpm Intake, and a slightly bigger Camshaft being the CompCams XE284 Hydraulic Flat Tappet. It has a more noticeable "lump" to the idle, but still decent, and still enough vacuum for power brakes. 3.55 to 3.91 gears best, 3,000-3,5000 stall best, 2,800-3,000 would work.
More of a manual Shift Auto/4-spd weekend warrior type engine, capable of 11's in a 3,800 Lb B-Body.
546 H.P. @ 5,500 rpm / 563 Ft/Lbs Torque @ 3,500 rpm.
