We will need a little more info to be able to help you out. What are your plans for the car? How will you be driving it? daily driver? cruiser? street and strip? Knowing this we will be able to help you decide what parts you should be looking at.

I agree woth d78 more info please. and how much do you want to spend. If a mild build for a driver, Id stay away from the headers. use the stock 340 exhaust manifolds. then use a purple sahft, 484 ,284 cam , an lifters, an ld340 intaek or the eaual to it. and a 750 edel. carb. def. electronic ign. but buy a harness from a resto shop where the conversion is wired into the main bulkhead connector. less chance if electriacl probs down the road .

If you pull out that 340 for a 360, your CRAZY! That 340 is so much better than a 360, but I will be more than happy to take that 340 off your hands and give you a 360 if you really want.
You will want to keep that #s matching together. The 340 is worth so much more than a 360 and can have more power with less upgrades than a 360. I'd get an Edlebrock performer intake, Edlebrock 600-650 CFM carb, and MSD coil, dizzy, wires and 6A box. Since you already have headers, a good exhuast system is all you will need. You'll be set of cruising and whenever you plan on pulling the motor for a cam upgrade.
Once again, DON'T SWAP OUT THAT 340 FOR A 360!

I wouldn't tuck it away, I would build it strong to handle more power than you are going to want so that you don't have to worry about throwing a rod. It's a good feeling knowing that out of a group of 300 cars at a show, 15 of them being Darts, you are the only one that has a numbers matching 340 Dart.

Depending on the engine (i'll have to look this up to see exactly where) there was a letter code. If it was an "X", it was a race engine that chrysler built. There were two other letters I think, or at least one.
I mean these motors will built for power from the factory, so I would think (and hope) that they are less likely to throw a rod through the block than a 318 or 360.
