dakota new engine.

Moes 2001 dakota gets a new engine. the rebuilt engine came in. its a stock 3.9 V6. i wanted to do a special engine but no time and no money. the engine is $2,700. total cost $5,000. might get done next week.

i think its worth it. new trans last year. new 4.1 gears and posi in 2011. and iam only 67 so it doesnt have to last no more that 15 years.

I have a 3.9 in a 1998 van NO F WAY would I spend $2700 on it... Would junk it first and buy something with a 318..

5 days new engine 45. miles, its doing good. but at idle it has a small flat spot. will get it checked out soon.

the gear shift lever will go only into P and R. will not go into thing else. its in the shop now. but i think the shop cant get to it till tomorrow.

ok what happened was i popped it in to p before it was stopped. and bent the push rod to the park pawl. will know more tomorrow.

well the tail houseing is off but the trouble is above the valve body. just for reff its a 2001 Dakota V6, O.D. trans a copy of the 904 trans.

i found a u-tube showing that the interlock in the colunm can cause this. ill need to talk to my guy in the morning.

i told the guy working on it to be sure to get other peoples car done that need the car to go to work. and the first thing he did check was the colunm lock out so that is not it. he might get it done today.

i found the flat spot. the throttle plates was dirty. $5. of cleaner it ideles fine now. now iam going to ad a low oil pressuer buzzer. will set it at 20 lbs.

I don't know what kind of idle air control valve your truck has but find it and cleen. It will get gumed up and not work properly. Ive had one drive me crazy utill I finally replaced it.

i forgot about the idle air control valve. as it still has a flat spot even to trying to back fire.

just got a good used throttle body. plan is. 1. adjustable trans cable. 2. idle speed control. 3. electronicly change the throttle opening singnel to computer. 4. modd the idle air valve.
