Sound like you are doing it right. Now is the time to do all the little things that make small amounts of power but all add up for more performance. Smoothing the ports, working the bowl area on the heads, gasket matching, (heads, intake, carb, etc) Chamfering holes, deburring everything cleaning up rough castings in the block, etc. Just make sure everything is clean, clean, clean! work with only white towels so that you can find dirt and see that there are no metal shavings or anything that shouldn't be there. I learned the white towel thing from Ray Barton years ago. Keep us posted and post pictures of the progress.

OK i can't k line now ? so it guides made up now . that's a extra $160 so that's $610 on heads now . i'll use the cam that i have with my 1.6 rockers that will make in .545" / ex .542" lift & with that duration @ .050" that's pretty good for now , it will get my heads working . ( I'm hoping the 2 3/4 inch carb spacer will pick up some air speed to make the larger ports & valves & cam work together ) with that 107 lobe separation , when the power comes on i should know all about it . ( i have never seen how it goes because of the timing & tuning problems )
my ute ran 13.6 @ 100 miles per hour the night be for we pulled her down .
without carb spacer .. i put that on & cut a hole in the bonnet 2 1/2 hours before we pulled her down . it definitely felt like it was pulling harder mid to top .

OK guy here's the latest

I'm nearly half way into the port job on the 2nd head . they look like they should flow a fair bit . more race than street .
i just ordered
msd billet dizy
main & big end bearings
arp rod bolts & main studs
Mancini molly push rods
cam button
exhaust block off valley pan
& rings
next pay day I'm ordering forged dome top custom pistons . honing the block to suit . so now i can mill & deck to achieve 10.8 :1 compression .
including shipping $777 US$ so yeah I'm throwing buckets of at it again . i still got heaps more parts to buy i'll keep yous informed

heads finished

the heads are quite wild now . i would say there max wedge or bigger now . hey they could go backwards for all i know but i doubt it . so to make the most of it , i 'm gonna buy a new stroker crank from 440 source / or muscle motors . a 440 stroke / b mains , a friend is giving me his ly rods to use .
if my heads crack once they get some heat into them i can always use my Indy's . & if i use my Indy's i'll change my rods & cam as well .
I'm also getting diamond forged dome tops . i'll have to do something about my 727 now , maybe a bolt in sprag & Kevlar bands & better friction & steel plates . just keep throwing buckets of at it .

Sounds like you have big plans for this motor. Any pics of it yet?

Any hobby that inclues automobiles is expensive. Even a simple rebuilt and cost a decent amount of money.

Of course you can get them on here. You just need to copy and paste the "IMG" code for that photo in a new post on here and thats it. here is a link on how to post pics from Photobucket. It should be the third post in this thread.

I am gonna gamble and say it's Rugby and his team is the Maroons. If it is they pounded NSW 28-18.
