Someone let me know if this is wrong but to answer one guy, cc'ing a head is measuring each chamber's volume. I suppose if you wanted the same compression and mixture in each cylinder then you need to make each one the same size and shape. I don' know if actually doing the head is cc'ing but measuring definitely is.
Unshrouding or deshrouding is often working the chamber and its exhaust port generally to insure good flow out the exhaust valve. I suppose there can be benefit anywhere in a chamber depending on the head, closed vs open vs semi-open vs hemi yada, and the shape of pistons esp when domed. I don't know anything about all out racing motors.
Is that correct?
BTW, DK, you might as well go ahead and put some stouter forged rods in that puppy now.

Ok, I'm a little dense but he could be nicer about it.
Sounds like a very nice build to me. Now you gotta spend money of the mounts, transmission, tranny support, driveshaft, and rear end to stay together and hook although you probably already have. With carbs I'd figure a conservative near 500-550HP and as much or more torque. Is that close? Can that configuration take a roller cam with .600 lift? I'm new to Mopars.

it sure can take a roller
my machinist called me today & said 86 cc average chamber . with zero deck height 4cc valve reliefs 4.290 bore x 4.250 stroke that's a close to 11:1 compression , but my pistons are about .100" down the bore & i will be using Indy ez closed chamber heads 75cc not to far down the track maybe 12 months or after i get back from Canada . it all so depends on how much bore clearance for the forgies . one bore has .004" clearance & 1 has .0045" clearance all the rest are even at .0025" . i wanted to hone to suit forged pistons but that depends . i must go i'll catch yas later

well pistons i have to do a bit of homework on piston size & clearance to make the most of the bores i have ( Tim will back me up here ) I'm already at 4.2945 " which is .0045 clearance ( .040" over ) & mother mopar's thick book says .040" max recommended for 69 block . ol mate said a bit of extra clearance is OK if there's no tapper ( not good , cheaper than re sleeving ) least this way i'll get a few more years out of my block . by then the world will be over anyway hahaha . a little joke between friends .

the latest
the machine shop guy called today , all finished but another $730 that's around $1500 i spent on my iron 906 heads no it's more than that . oh yeah lets flush more down the dunny . i have all so been in contact with muscle motors & there tight fit pistons are a recommended .004 clearance that works out perfict . its a extra $200 for custom .040 + pistons but ya get that . I'm just waiting on my tax check can't wait .

WOW DK, it would have been nice of your machinest to at least give you a heads up that it was going to cost more then aluminum heads... I hope they work out the way you want...

mate my Chev mate is furious , he got some Chevy heads done by the same bloke for $1600 including race port job . i think this has something to do with me porting it my self & him wanting the same money . i know that i had to pay for set up twice & cleaning twice . because i got the the valve seats ruff cut before i ported em . to be honest i was expecting $1100 .

i was doing some research with aluminum heads, and i figured out that they allow you to run higher compression with the same octane
isnt the higher compression needed to get back thermol efficiency?

yeah as a general rule of thumb ya can go 1 full number higher in compression with the alloy heads . when i switch to the Indy's i'll have to do some more research because i want to thump in 200 hp of nitrous as well as a big roller cam .

the springs were a lot heaver than we thought . there around 150 lbs / 350lbs there only singles with dampers . could they be the mopar battleship springs ? that's what may have bent the stock pushrod + over revving . i'm taking the block down on monday to get sonic tested .

I've got all the cash i need to do the engine .
i'll just wait for the report back from the sonic test before i order anything . mmmm it's slowly getting there . should be a real torque machine with good power as well but my exhaust will be holding it back .

yeah fenderwall headers 2 7/8 inch primaries into to 3 1/2 in exhaust . it will all be part of the Indy heads , roller cam & nitrous package .
