Help!! My 1974 Dart won't start
Ok I have a 1974 Dodge Dart custom. With a 318 v8
It was running fine the other day. I go to start it. And their is no pressure
When I the gas pedal. I can't even feel GA's moving through it. And it still won't start. I think it is the fuel pump. The car turns over and everything. Just no fuel getting to carb. And that no pressure thing on pedal.

1. Are you sure there's gas in the tank?
2. Did you visually inspect the carb while operating the throttle? (See anything, smell anything?)
3. If yes to the above, are you sure you're getting spark?
Sorry, not giving us a lot to work with.

Yes their is a full tank lol.
The carb did look ok.
I had my buddy try to start it as I was looking at carb. And no fuel was getting to it
Like I said pedal doesn't even feel like gas going into I. It's so loose. I
And yes I'm getting a spark

Like Bob said check the throttle cable.

If the cable is still connected to the carb, the most likely culprit is it attachment to the other end (at the pedal).
Here's the thing, if the cable is bad (broken/disconnected), the gas pedal should drop to the carpet.
Look, the Internet is a lousy means of communication.
1. Operate the throttle (at the carb) manually. (See, smell)
2. Have your friend hit the gas pedal and see if the throttle linkage (at the carb) moves.
3. Manually pour a little gas into the carb and see if it kicks.

Ok guys here's an update. Ok so I went out side and checked the Carb. I didn't notice it before. But the throttle part did come off. So I tried to then start it last night. It almost started twice. I'm thinking my battery my be to dead to start it. So I'm gonna try to get a jump and see if that works.

Go for it!!! Simple $hit cant get figured out be for you post, realty?

Ok. So here is the thing. I took battery to oreilys. Had it fully charged. On top of that. I had a car hooked up to it when I tried to start it. It almost started. So I don't know if it the fuel pump. Or if it wasted all the gas when I tried to start it the other day.

So, crank the car to fill the bowls - is gas squirting out of the "squirters" when you move the throttle on the carb?
If the fuel line in intact and you're cranking the car, the gas smell should be pretty obvious.
If the smell is there, then you have an electrical problem.
Try messing with the timing. If the car runs, but the setting you need is way out of spec, you may have blown your timing chain (meaning it jumped a tooth or two). If it's factory, it's nylon and probably shouldn't have lasted this long...

Ok I just checked it. And I didn't see any gas feeling the chamber. So I had a friend crank the car while I poured some gas in carb. And it almost started. So I'm thinking it's the fuel pump then.

Either the fuel pump or a clog between the pump and the carb.
Don't rule the latter out until to test it.
Disconnect fuel line from the carb side of the pump and blow air through it. If you find/feel any resistance, fix it. Probably the pump, but don't run out any buy one, if there's a cheaper and easier fix.
Don't ask me how I know ...

Ok. Breathed all the lines. The fuel pump is fine. I also replaced the fuel filter. After I replaced the filter it almost started. But died after 10 seconds. So I had my fiancé try to start it after that happend. It almost started again. But quit. And about after 30 seconds of trying to start it. The carb started leaking gas. So I have no clue what's wrong.........

You didn't mention the type of carb (I think). On Holley types, a bad needle/seat or float can cause that. Borrowing a temporary carb, or buying a rebuild kit might be the next order of business.

I had a family friend/ mechanic take a look. He said the I tings were rotted away on the carb. So payday I'm gonna buy a carb rebuild kit. It's only $35.00 so it's fairly cheap. And it's the original carb on the 318.
