More Polara Woes....
More Polara Woes....
Good evening errrrrbody!
So Ive been continuing to plug away with the 64, It has def had its ups and downs this week.
Found a new fuel tank to replace the rusty/corroded one for $155 and free shipping. Score
Also got new sending unit/pickup installed.
Installed the new tank/pickup and cleaned out the hard line so now Im getting clean adequate fuel.
Today I did new points, condenser, cap, rotor, plugs, and wires and adjusted my timing. Car seems to be running a hell of a lot smoother which I am ecstatic about.
Bad news.... Recently did a rebuild on a stromberg ww 3-251. Upon getting clean and adequate fuel, the main shaft (or at least the bushings) have let go and im leaking fuel out of both sides of the shaft
Thoughts, comments, ideas??
Hope yall have a good coming week!
Johnny

even with the loose shaft it shouldn't have fuel coming out the shaft. i think you have two troubles. i have some custom tooling that i made years ago to put bushing in AFBs. the trick is to NOT counter bore the casting all the way in to the throttle bore. i found some oil-lite bushings at an industrial bearing shop. the oil-lite bushings are brittle and care must be used when machining them .
