so what would the specs be if the motors been altered????how do you know your timing is perfect?trial n error?

This is the best learning tool I've found in awhile. If by altered you mean camshaft change, the specs would be different to each cam, like shown at the end of the video. Timing the cam would be done with a degree wheel to advance or retard it slightly to change the power curve RPM range. There are many tutorials about this on U-Tube that would explain it better than I could. That spiral graphic can be related to cam manufacturers lingo of Intake open BTDC, close ABDC etc. and takes a little mystery out of reading a cam card.

Use a cam degree wheel to get the "perfect timing".

Then you can use an off set cam bushing or crank key ways to change the cam degree to either advance to retard (depending on if you want more torque or hp)
