Well...here we are...finish line in sight. Truck scheduled to go in for lining of the box floor in about an hour. Finish installing the windshield washer system, door straps...then a once over on every nut and bolt. Should be ready for inspection by the end of the week. Then it's all the paperwork and hoops for the insurance company. The interior will still need some upholstery, but that will have to wait. Been just over three years since it entered the shop and a year before that stripping down both trucks. It's been one hell of a journey, but worth every delay and setback.

Thanks. I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. The crew at the shop has done a stellar job. I may have a hard time prying it away from them...lol.

Just ask for a full refund of costs, it will be yours in a heartbeat.

Well...this morning when I was there, they informed me of an offer from a well to do logger who has made an offer. A pretty substantial offer at that. I have to give it some thought.

If his offer on this project hits "dream car" prices, I'd say go for it...

Well...it kind of floored me actually. $280,000 Canadian. Would leave me totally debt free and a tidy sum in the bank to maybe start another project...lol. I'm really torn though.

One thing to keep in mind is it will never look as good as it does right now. But it's been a long project and you have much invested in it other than money.
Good luck with your decision 🙂

The thing that concerns me about the truck is that it's big and you don't have secure storage for it. Unless you insure the hell out of it and most of the companies I've dealt with require a garage before they will cover a specialty vehicle. But you probably have that all worked out.

Lol..it would be another expense to alter my garage. Although...I do have secure covered storage for free in the winter if I want.

Either my perception is off or something but you truck looks huge. I'd like to see it next to a normal vehicle for comparison. 🙂

It sits fairly high, but length wise it is on the 90 frame.

That number is huge!
You have to consider that, with debt cleared and a little extra in the bank, you're talking about potentially turning that truck into a more comfortable retirement or an investment in another similar project that leads to similar profit (or even just an investment portfolio for financial gain).
I know you worked really hard for years on that beast. Maybe ing in on it is the right thing to do.

I can tell you right now that if someone offered me that sum for any of my long term hobby projects, I'd be thrilled!
Most people spend years working things like a book, or a car, or software and never gain an ounce (or a dollar) of interest in it from anyone else ((ask me how I know!)).

Either way, you've done a phenomenal job at restoring this beauty. You have every reason to be very proud!

Yeah. I'm really having trouble with this one...lol. The upside is I'd have a very healthy amount to do another project. And I know where there are several PW's not too far away from here. Maybe do another one that doesn't require quite so much time and expense.

You basically made over $7,000CAD a month on this (from the date you first posted in 4/2016). Close to $100,000CAD a year (I think you said the offer was in Canadian Dollars, multiply by .74 for USD).
That is business startup worthy!

Well, not sure I want to do this as a business. But if I do sell, I will definitely take on a smaller project. It would be another PW no doubt. But again, one that didn't require too much work.

Well. She's done! Getting buffed this afternoon and waiting on some door straps being made at the upholstery shop. Four years from purchasing it off a farm to this beauty. What an experience. Had a few years as I looked at it in the shop early this afternoon. I can't say enough about the crew who worked on it, especially Kevin. Still some hoops to go through before it sees the road...but we're done. Kind of feeling a little numb at the moment.

As of today I do. Not sure what I will do. Just in case, I have been scoping out a couple of old PW's up in this neck of the woods.

Thanks. Funny thing about the farm photos. If I do decide to sell, its headed to a ranch and will never see public roads. Yup...the shop did great. Lots of delays, lots of plan changes and a helluva lot of patience. When nobody else would take this on, they did. I can't thank them enough.

I have to ask how do you get on the running boards? That's got to be one hell of a step.
