1982 d150 gauge help

The speedo cable is probably either loose or is worn out and just need to be replaced like 66 said. I'd be willing to guess that the sending unit is bad in the gas tank and needs to be replaced. As far as the lights go, bulbs are probably burnt out like 66 mentioned.

What is the battery charge look like, just wondering if there was a short or something from the alternator causing the dash to go out?

Sounds to me like a short somewhere. Just for curiosity sake run a wire jumper from a known good 12 V source to the power in on your sending unit, if the gage works than you know you have a short somewhere that is either energizing circuits or stealing power from them.
