im thinking of taking on a project. i have an oooooollllddddddd RV out back. it has a 440i, industrial i think. and it runs like a dream, 30,000 miles showing.. and a 85 swb pick up thats screamin' for it. my question is..would it be worth it? is the industrial like the car version 440? or is it like a chevy 366 industrial, and the deck is extremely high, and not worth the trouble?
same deck but everything else is different. heads, waterpump etc. I think the block is useable though, just gotta convert stuff over to it. So you got a block, crank and rods actually. youll have to get everything else. Its probably a 413.
well like I said, it depends what year the industrial is, If it looks like it has the "normal" big-block heads, your ok. If it has those "special" industrial heads and associated parts, then it will take some work and money. BTW, you will know right away when you see the old industrial 413 of the '60's. It looks totally different than a normal 440-413. The newer industrial looks similar to the regular big-blocks.
So basically, you gotta figure out whaat you have.
